Our commitment to improving public health has been recognised internationally, with Pfizer winning the UK Prix Galien Award twice for its vaccines. The Prix Galien is an internationally recognised award, which recognises the pharmaceutical industry’s outstanding achievement in the evolution of medicines.
UK Prix Galien
- 2000 for Meningitec (our conjugate vaccine against Meninigitis C)
- 2004 for Prevenar (our pneumococcal conjugate vaccine)
US Medal of Technology
- 2007 for Prevenar, America’s highest honour for technological achievement

Pfizer Vaccines aims to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate, both in the UK and throughout the rest of the world, by donating to organisations delivering healthcare and other social services to people in need worldwide.
Pfizer Vaccines and GAVI
Pfizer Vaccines has reached an agreement with GAVI (the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) to provide a donation of more than three million doses of Prevenar vaccine to immunise African children in GAVI-eligible countries. The vaccine programme started in 2009 in Rwanda and Gambia.
