Our commitment to improving public health has been recognised internationally, with Pfizer winning the UK Prix Galien Award twice for its vaccines. The Prix Galien is an internationally recognised award, which recognises the pharmaceutical industry’s outstanding achievement in the evolution of medicines.

UK Prix Galien

  • 2000 for Meningitec (our conjugate vaccine against Meninigitis C)
  • 2004 for Prevenar (our pneumococcal conjugate vaccine)

US Medal of Technology

  • 2007 for Prevenar, America’s highest honour for technological achievement

 

Pfizer also supports a wide range of educational and civic charities in the UK, through monetary donations and employee volunteering, including local community projects and schools’ activities.

Pfizer Vaccines and GAVI

Pfizer Vaccines has reached an agreement with GAVI (the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) to provide a donation of more than three million doses of Prevenar vaccine to immunise African children in GAVI-eligible countries. The vaccine programme started in 2009 in Rwanda and Gambia.
